Who We Are
Based in New York, we are a volunteer-run, non-profit that provides scholarships and support services to low-income black and brown students in New York and fundraising opportunities for Jamaican students.
The organization’s mission, deeply rooted in personal connections, extends far beyond providing financial assistance, fostering a supportive community, and mentorship program that empowers students to reach their full potential.
MISSION:
We exist to narrow racial gaps in post-secondary opportunity and attainment for low-income, first-generation, students of color; empowering their communities.
VISION:
We envision a world where every Black and Brown student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential through education.

Empowering through Education
Our Educational Empowerment program provides scholarships and wraparound emotional support to guide low-income Black and Brown students through the challenges of college. We go beyond financial aid to become a safe space where students can discuss their anxieties, navigate tough decisions, and build the confidence to achieve their academic goals.
Stand by
each student.
We're laser-focused on getting students to and through college.
In 2017, our founder came across the story of Sashalee Beasley, a brilliant Jamaican student struggling to fund her study abroad dreams. Touched by her story, our founder secretly supported her throughout her college journey, driven by a desire she never had herself: someone unwavering in her corner, during prior years of personal struggles.
Her promise to Sashalee – to help others like her – is the lifeblood of Adopt A Destiny.

BRITNEY MING
Britney Ming, a Titchfield High alumna and a 2023 UWI graduate, holds a BSc in Bio-Engineering.
Upon graduating, her final project caught the attention of a professor at Florida Institute of Technology who, after meeting Britney, awarded her a full-ride scholarship to begin her doctorate studies and a part-time assistant teaching role – demonstrating the far-reaching impact of our support.
